As Jermik awakened with the sun's early light, he looked around him. He had been living in the woods of Eterna for quite some time, and had bonded with living and non living members of the great forest. Few beings came to his secluded location, so his main friends were the spirits that lived in the woods. As he stepped out into the sunlight, he noticed that the morning dew was still very present on the maples around his home. He squinted, noticing in the distance was a rock formation very foreign to him. He had not noticed it being there the evening before, but he had been hasty in moving to this particular location near Lake Nuwan. As he stepped closer, he noticed that this particular formation seemed to be carved, and not by the elements. He starting his journey to the formation, which seemed to last much of the day. As the evening came, he made it to the very foot of the huge formation. He pressed his hand to the stone surface, and noticed that his hand sunk into the rock. Curiosity struck him, so he simply pressed harder against the rock, until a small door opened at the top of the formation. It appeared to be a temple, but nothing like he had seen in his past. He quickly climbed through the entrance, making his way into the hallway of the temple.
As he made his way down the long hall, he noticed an imprint on one of the walls. He had been taught to read ancient writings as a mere child, and this writing seemed very familiar. It belonged to the Ivernes people, a people who lived in that forest many moons before him. This people were known to study the spirit realm, but more importantly, were known to target evil spirits in the region. As he read over the text, his countenance began to change, becoming more serious.
"Today is the day that we will defeat the great beast that has plagued our land. Our villages have fell to their knees before him long enough. We refuse to sacrifice our children to his ceremonies anymore, for this is the day he will be brought to shame. I have finally discovered that the Almighty hid a realm to lock away beasts such as this, and we will soon imprison the demon once and for all. I, Hirontus will be the one to lure the creature here, so this may be my final writing. May glory and honor be to God, who taught me of this place, and how to stop the creature from destroying us. I pray this is the last time I see the monster face to face." - Hirontus, Ivernes Elder
Jermik stepped through the door, and made his way to an inner chamber. Just as he entered the room, arrows flew by him, almost piercing his side. He quickly evaded, leaping onto a pedestal in the center of the room. As he looked around him, he could sense a presence in the room, as if something was telling him to leave the temple immediately. He had never encountered a feeling such as this, but he knew that he wanted to investigate further. He noticed what appeared to be an altar on the far side of the room, decorated in fine gold. How this altar had escaped the hands of thieves he could not even fathom, but he knew better than to steal from a temple. As he stepped closer, he noticed a small book on the top of the altar. An ancient symbol of the sun was on the outside, with the moon imprinted inside of the sun. As he opened the book, he could feel a chill run through his entire being. He noticed a worn page in the center of the book, so he quickly flipped to it. It seemed to be some kind of chant or song, so he quickly starting to speak aloud:
"Today is the day the gates will open, the gates that seal our fate. This gate was made by angels, for evil to lock away. I stand before you a simple mortal, I ask humbly and true, open the gate for me, that the evil may be pushed through..."
He could feel the earth begin to shake beneath him, but he continued, enjoying the energy around him.
"Open gates, swing open wide, let me see what is inside!" He yelled, looking towards a stone slab in front of him. As those words crossed his lips, he noticed the slab began to break, and a great red glow appeared. It seemed to be a portal, a gateway to another realm. He squinted, almost blinded by the light. He watched in horror as a huge claw gripped the edge of the portal, as if some beast was about to emerge. He quickly flipped through the book, trying to find a way to close the gateway. Just as he found the page, the huge demon leaped from the portal, landing just in front of Jermik. His piercing red eyes looked down on Jermik, and he smirked.
"I thank you dear friend for letting me free of that wretched place, it was pain and suffering." The demon said, his deep tone shaking the Earth.
"Who are you?" Jermik asked in a shaky tone.
The huge demon stepped closer, extending a claw.
"I am none other than the great Kaden, king of this realm, and I feel it is time the king takes his throne." He said boastfully as Jermik took a few steps back.
